One-piece micropumps from liquid crystalline core-shell particles

Eva-Kristina Fleischmann and Hsin-Ling Liang developed novel micropumps from liquid crystalline elastomers using microfluidic reactors.

In cooperation with scientists from the International Research Training Group Mainz - Seoul/Korea (IRTG 1404) and the University of Stuttgart they now published hollow spheres which, when filled with a liquid, can work as micropumps.
